Power cable accessories (English name: Cable Accessories) is a product that connects cables to transmission and distribution lines and distribution devices. It generally refers to the intermediate connection and terminal connection of various cables in the cable line, which together with the cables form the power transmission network; The cable accessories are mainly based on the characteristics of the cable structure, which can not only restore the performance of the cable, but also ensure the extension of the cable length and the connection of the terminal. The reliability of high-voltage cable accessories can be judged from the aspects of electrical performance, sealing moisture-proof performance, mechanical performance and process performance.

Connection method

The connection mode of cable accessories is generally divided into terminal connection and intermediate connection. The terminal connection is divided into indoor terminal and outdoor terminal. Generally, outdoor terminal refers to outdoor cable joint, indoor terminal refers to indoor connection cable and electrical equipment joint; the intermediate connection is divided into straight through type and insulation type. There are many kinds of cable accessories with different characteristics and limitations, which can not be replaced with each other.

The common ones are as follows:

(1) Wrapping type: the cable accessories made by wrapping the rubber strip (self-adhesive) on site are called wrapping type cable accessories, which are easy to loosen, have poor fire resistance and short service life;

(2) Pouring type: the thermosetting resin is used as the main material to be poured on site. The selected materials are epoxy resin, polyurethane, acrylic resin, etc. the fatal disadvantage of this kind of accessories is that bubbles are easy to be produced during curing;

(3) Molding type: it is mainly used for the middle connection of the cable, adding mold and heating on site, and integrating with the cable. The manufacturing process of the accessory is complex and takes a long time, and it is not suitable for the terminal joint;

(4) Cold shrinkable type: it is formed by pre expanding in the factory and adding plastic support strip with elastomer such as silicone rubber and EPDM. In the on site construction, the supporting strip is drawn out to make the pipe shrink on the cable under the inherent elastic effect of rubber, so as to make the cable accessories. The accessories are most suitable for the construction sites that can not be heated by open fire, such as mines, petrochemical industry, etc;

(5) Heat shrinkable type: accessories made of rubber and plastic alloy made of different components with "shape memory effect" and heat shrinkable on the cable on site. The accessory has the advantages of light weight, simple and convenient construction, reliable operation and low price;

(6) Prefabricated: it is an accessory made by injecting silicone rubber into different components, one-time vulcanization and forming, only keeping the contact interface, and inserting the cable during site construction. The construction technology reduces the unmeasurable adverse factors in the environment to the lowest level, so the accessories have great potential use value and are the development direction of cross-linked cable accessories, but the manufacturing technology is difficult, involving many disciplines and industries. The installation materials of prefabricated accessories under the Trident and shielding ports of cables are still heat shrinkable materials, so they are actually the combination of prefabricated and heat shrinkable types.
